* suffer
① [타동사] [고통․슬픔․상처를] 겪다, 입다, 받다 (have or feel pain, grief or injury)
e.g. She has suffered pain. 그녀는 고통을 겪어왔다.
e.g. The farmers suffered considerable losses from bad crops. 농부들은 흉작 때문에 상당한 손해를 보았다.
② [자동사] suffer가 자동사가 되면 “고생하다; 병에 걸리다, 손해를 입다”란 뜻이 되며 뒤에 전치사 from이나 with를 수반한다.
e.g. She suffers from malaria. 그녀는 말라리아로 고생하고 있다.
e.g. She suffers from a headache. 그녀는 두통으로 고생하고 있다. (습관적)
e.g. She's suffering from a headache. 두통으로 고생하고 있다, (일시적)
* drought 가뭄
* ruin 해치다(= destroy); 망쳐놓다(= spoil)
e.g. Too much smoking and drinking will ruin your health. 지나친 흡연과 음주는 건강을 해칠 겁니다.
* rainfall 강우(량)
* still 그럼에도 불구하고 (= nevertheless)
e.g. Proof was given, but they still doubted. 증거는 제시받았지만 여전히 그들은 의혹을 품었다.
* a good harvest 풍작 (= good crop)
반대로 “흉작”은 a bad [poor] crop [harvest]라고 한다.

쉬운 표현이지만 잘 활용하자. 반대말은 I'm so sorry to hear that. 안됐군요.
* truly (= really; indeed)

* blessed 축복받은
