Jason Bourne (Character)
Jason Bourne was part of a project called Treadstone, where agents were turned into ultimate assassins. He was shot while on a mission and lost his memory, which sets up the background to the first movie.
Jason Bourne's memory loss is a form of amnesia, where he forgets his name and much of his past, but retains his kinetic reflexes, which lets him keep using his fighting and other skills that he acquired during his previous life. His difficulties regaining memory are magnified by the fact that prior to the incident when he was shot, his training program and his job had seriously altered his mental state and essentially made him a different person. Memory loss theme persists through each movie with Jason trying, and having difficulty, to remember certain mysterious episodes of his life as an assassin. With Jason being out in the open, many loose ends of things he worked on are left unprotected, and that touches some of the highest circles of power including secret government agencies and criminal organizations who perceive Jason to be a threat to themselves. Jason, therefore, himself becomes a target of attempted assassinations.
The first movie, "Bourne Identity" is based on his memory loss and the agency attempting to bring him in. Not knowing that he had lost his memory, the agency treat him as a rogue agent and attempt to shut him down.
The second movie "Bourne Supremecy", sees Jason with his wife Marie, in hiding in India. Unfortunately, he is framed for a murder, and Marie is shot and killed. The second movie then sees Jason track down her killer, while picking up the memory of his first ever kill - which he discovered wasn't sanctioned by the agency.
The third movie "Bourne Ultimatum" starts where the second finishes, escaping from Europe and revealing further memories from his past. The movie tracks his chase of the man he believed signed him up to the program that ruined his life, and confronting him at the end.

Matthew Paige Damon was born on October 8, 1970, in Boston Massachusetts to Kent Damon, a stockbroker, Realtor and tax preparer, and Nancy Carlsson-Paige, an early childhood education professor at Lesley University. Matt has an older brother named Kyle who is now a sculptor. The family lived in Newton until his parents divorced, when Damon and his brother moved with his mother to Cambridge. It was here that Damon met his close friend and collaborator Ben Affleck, who lived in the neighborhood.
Damon attended Cambridge Ridge and Latin School and he performed in a number of theater productions during his time there. He attended Harvard University as an English major, but dropped out to pursue acting. He made small roles in Mystic Pizza (1988), School Ties (1992), and Geronimo: An American Legend (1993), before landing his breakthrough role as a drug-addicted soldier in Courage Under Fire (1996). The role required him to lose 40 pounds in a short period of time, which resulted in health problems. Fortunately, critics took note of his performance and he felt it was a worthwhile risk to show his level of dedication to his craft.
The following year, he garnered accolades for Good Will Hunting (1997), based on a screenplay he had originally written while at Harvard. Directed by Gus Van Sant, the film was nominated for nine Academy Awards, and he and Affleck won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay.

Marie crosses paths with Jason when he escapes a bank siege and needs someone to drive him to Paris. Marie gets attracted to Jason and later falls in love with him. At the time of meeting Jason, Marie's life is not very structured and does not seem to have many career prospects. She is a type of person that seems to not like much structure anyway, so an adventure with Jason seems mysterious and therefore attractive. Besides she is offered some handsome cash for the drive...
Marie certainly takes a special place in Jason's life as she symbolizes a new beginning for him, where he can lead a normal and happy life despite his past and all the memory issues. She inevitably, although voluntarily, puts herself in the crossfire that Jason's freedom represents, since he is the object of interest for many powerful people. Her life, therefore, is in danger, but she thinks that her love is worth it and is willing to risk it.

Franka Potente was born on 22 July 1974 in the German town of Dülmen. After her graduation in 1994, she went to the Otto-Falckenberg-Schule, a drama school in Munich, but soon broke off to study at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in New York. After a notable debut in Nach Fünf im Urwald (1995), the role of the heroine in Lola rennt (1998), directed by her then longtime companion Tom Tykwer was her national breakthrough. After some other successful movies in Germany, she starred in several Hollywood productions, most prominently The Bourne Identity (2002) and The Bourne Supremacy (2004) and lived one year in Los Angeles. After her return to Berlin, she continues working with German and international directors.

Brian Cox is an Emmy Award-winning actor, first coming to attention in the early 1970s with performances in numerous television films. His first big break was as Dr. Hannibal Lecter in Manhunter (1986). The film was not overly successful at the box office, although Cox's career prospects and popularity continued to develop. Julia O'Hara Stiles was born on March 28, 1981 in New York City, the outgoing daughter of an elementary school teacher father and a Greenwich Village artist mother, and the eldest of three children. Encouraged to take modern dance lessons at an early age, she was introduced to Shakespeare and theater. At age 11, she made her debut as a child actress with the experimental off-Broadway La MaMa Theatre. Her passion grew and by the next year was performing professionally and working in commercials. Originally from Wellington, New Zealand, Karl Urban now lives in Auckland. Born on June 7, 1972, he is the son of a leather goods manufacturer (who had hoped that Karl would follow in his footsteps). His first acting role was when he was 8 -- he had a line on a television series. However, he did not act again until after high school. He was offered a role in the NZ soap opera "Shortland Street" (1992), as he was preparing to attend Victoria University. After appearing on the series for the 1993-1994 season, he attended the university for one year, then left to pursue his acting career. Over the next few years, he landed several theater roles in the Wellington area. Eventually, he moved to Auckland where a number of guest roles in NZ television followed. One of his first roles was that of a heroin addict in the drama series "Shark in the Park" (1989). He was in a movie as well, entitled Once in Chunuck Bay (aka Chunuk Bair (1992)). Mann originally filmed Dominion: Prequel to the Exorcist, directed by Paul Schrader, but when the producers rejected Shrader's version of the film and decided to shoot a new version, Mann's character, Father Francis, had to be recast because of a scheduling conflict. The film went into release in 2004 with James D'Arcy in the role. Mann played one of the lead roles in the psychological thriller Psych 9 and stars alongside with Sara Foster, Cary Elwes and Michael Biehn.

Joan Allen was born on August 20, 1956 in Rochelle, Illinois, the youngest of four children. She attended Rochelle Township High School where she was voted most likely to succeed. Joining Chicago's famed Steppenwolf Theatre Company ensemble in 1977, she was one of the group's original members and starred in a number of its original productions. Her first major film credits included two critically-lauded supporting performances that showcased her versatility: a comedic turn in the suburban murder mystery Compromising Positions (1985) and a dramatic role as a blind woman befriended by a serial killer in Manhunter (1986). Around the same time, Allen was making a name for herself on the New York stage; she would eventually become one of the New York theater world's most honored actresses and a winner of every major prize for her work on Broadway and off. She received a Best Actress Tony Award in 1988 for her performance, opposite John Malkovich, in Lanford Wilson's Burn This and was Tony-nominated in the same category in 1989 for the title role in The Heidi Chronicles.

Throughout the early 2000s Allen worked in both film and television, with roles in three of the Bourne films - The Bourne Supremacy (2004), The Bourne Ultimatum (2007), and The Bourne Legacy (2012) - as well as The Notebook (2004), The Upside of Anger (2005), and Death Race (2008). Allen also received Emmy nominations for The Mists of Avalon (2001) (TV) and for the title role in the biopic Georgia O'Keeffe (2009) (TV), for which she was also executive producer. She was also recently seen in HBO's drama series "Luck" (2011).
Allen married actor Peter Friedman in 1990, and the two divorced in 2002; Allen's daughter Sadie was born in 1994.
