5.1.3 Entering the water (1) When the diver enters the water by the ladder, he/she is assisted by the assistant. (2) The diver is to move slowly and carefully. When he/she especially enters the water, he/she is to pay attention lest the ladder be pushed or lifted by the waves. (3) When the diver enters the water from the stage, he/she is to grab the cross bars after sitting on the center of the stage. (4) When the diver stands in the stage, he/she spreads his/her legs and then bends his/her knees, in order to absorb shock on impact in case of emergency (e.g. the fall of the stage, etc.). (5) According to the supervisor’s signal, the winch operator and the rope operator give a tension to the stage by pulling the rope. Then, according to the next signal, they pull in the stage. Finally, they let the diver enter the water by using the stage line. (6) The diver enters the water and then checks the leak of the diving suit and the joints. He/she can check the leak by receiving help from the assistant or the other diver. (7) The diver checks the communication equipment and adjusts the time. At the same time, he/she makes report on a new malfunction or disorder of parts. (8) When the diver does not find any matter after check, he/she let the relevant person know the preparation for diving is completed. At this time, the assistant move the diver by the rope for water entrance. (9) Because the diver’s short-distance swimming causes exhaustion and the accumulation of carbon dioxide, he/she is to keep the face window above water and float perpendicularly by adjusting buoyancy. (10) If the diver is ready to move, he/she takes the ladder off the stage to move freely. Then, he/she moves his/her legs like dog-paddle. (11) If the diver starts to move, the assistant gives the lifeline and the air hose to the diver lest the diver pull on them. (12) If the diver is ready to enter the water, he/she reports to the supervisor that he/she completed the preparation for entering the water. (13) When the diver moved by swimming, the relevant person must let the diver fresh air in before water entrance. |
