■ 설립목적 Purposes

서울과학기술대학교가 핵심역량을 집결하여 최고수준의 전문가를 육성하기 위하여 설립한 전문대학원으로써 서울과학기술대학교의 행정학과, 산업정보시스템공학과, 그리고 매체공학과의 우수한 교수진의 다양한 교육 및 연구경험을 토대로 하고 있습니다.
SEOUL TECH founded the Graduate School of Public Policy and Information Technology to foster the highest level of professionals by concentrating its core capabilities, based on various experiences of education and research of the outstanding faculty of Department of Public Administration, Department of Industrial & Information Systems Engineering, and Department of Media Engineering.

산업정보시스템공학과는 중앙일보가 실시한 전국 대학평가의 산업공학 부문 종합순위에서 13위를 차지하였으며 학생교육부문에서는 9위를 차지 하였습니다. 매체공학과는 21세기 영상정보화시대를 주도하는 학과로 국내에서 유일한 학과 입니다. 행정학과는 국내외 공  공정책 및 관리분야를 선도하는 우수한 교수진을 확보하고 활발한 연구활동을 수행하고 있습니다. 서울과학기술대학교는 IT분야에서 세계 수준의 교육 및 연구능력을 갖추고, 서울과학기술대학교의 발전을 선도할 수 있도록 핵심역량을 집중하여 IT정책전문대학원을 육성할 것입니다. 앞으로 IT정책전문대학원은 공공정책, 산업정보시스템, 디지털문화정책, 방송통신정책의 전공을 명실상부하게 연계하여 교육과 연구에서 선도적인 역할을 담당하게 될 것입니다.
Department of Industrial & Information Systems Engineering respectively ranked thirteenth and ninth in University’s Evaluation for the Department of Industrial Engineering, and Student Education, conducted by Korea Joongang Daily. The Department of Media Engineering is the sole department of media engineering which takes the lead in the 21st century’s image information age in Korea. The Department of Public Administration has the excellent faculty leading the fields of domestic and foreign public policy and management and performs active research activities. SEOUL TECH shall foster the Graduate School of Public Policy and Information Technology by concentrating its core abilities so that the graduate school can have the world-class abilities of education and research in the field of IT to lead the development of SEOUL TECH. In the future, it shall play a key role in education and research by linking four majors Public Policy, Industrial Information System, Digital Cultural Policy, and Broadcasting and Communication Policy.

■ 설립취지 Objects of Establishment

○ 탁월한 교수진과 전공별 지도 교수제
   ㆍ 세계 우수대학에서 학위를 한 25명의 교수들이 석사 및 박사 과정 교육이 효과적으로 진행되도록 지도
   ㆍ 특별히 공공정책, 산업정보시스템, 방송통신정책 전공별로 지도교수제를 통하여 학생들의 학업과 진로문제를 지원
   ㆍ 연차적으로 최고 수준의 전임교수와 외국인 교수를 추가로 확보
○ Excellent faculty and major tutorial system
   ㆍ Effective operation of master’s and Ph. D. programs by 25 professors who obtained Ph.D. degree from outstanding universities in the world
   ㆍ To support the students’ study and career decision through major tutorial system (i.e. public policy, industrial information system, and broadcasting and communication policy)
   ㆍ To secure the highest level of full-time professors and foreign professors annually

○ 교육내실화와 국제적 수준의 교육내용 제공
  ㆍ 지식정보화, 세계화 시대에 필요한 핵심역량을 배양하기 위해 IT정책전문대학원은 석사과정 36학점, 박사과정 42학점, 석ㆍ박사통합
      60학점 등 내실을 기할 수 있도록 교육내용을 편성
  ㆍ 이론강의중심 교육보다는 통합과정교육(team teaching)과 사례중심 교육(case study)을 통하여 문제해결능력을 함양
  ㆍ 영어 및 Multi-media를 통한 강의(1인 PC)를 제공하여 국제적 수준의 교육
○ Substantialization of education and provision of the international level of eudcation
  ㆍ To operate three programs (master’s program 36 credits, Ph.D. program 42 credits, and master’s-Ph.D. integrated program 60 credits) to cultivate a core competence for knowledge-information age and the era of internationalization
  ㆍ To cultivate an ability to solve problems through team teaching and case study rather than theory-centered lectures
  ㆍ International level of education by offering lectures through English and multi-media (the students’ use of personal computer per person)
