공과대학 College of Engineering
공과대학은 미래의 과학기술 및 지식기반 사회를 선도할 유능한 인재를 배출함을 교육목적으로 하고, 창의적인 사고력과 문제해결 능력, 전공지식응용능력과 종합적 설계능력, 정보지식 습득 능력과 국제화사회에 대한 적응 능력을 갖춘 공학도 양성을 교육목표로 하고 있는 실무교육중심대학이다. 공과대학은 기계설계자동화공학부 등 3개학부와 기계공학과 등 14개학과(1개 계약학과 포함), 6개 위탁교육과정, UNN(영국 노섬브리아 대학과 공동학위)과정, 테크노프레너십 학ㆍ석사과정, 그리고 대학행정실과 공학교육혁신센터로 구성되어 있으며, 교수 189명, 교직원 80여명, 학생 8,950여 명이 소속되어 있는 공학교육의 전당이다. 4년제 공과대학이 배출한 인력은 40,000여명으로 회사, 연구소, 정부 및 그 산하기관의 중견인사로서 우리나라 산업 및 경제발전에 주도적인 역할을 하고 있다.
The College of Engineering aims to foster competent individuals who will play a leading role in scientific technology in the future in our knowledge-based society. Emphasizing practical education, the College of Engineering aims on cultivation of engineers equipped with creative minds, problem-solving capacity and abilities to apply knowledge to chosen fields, plan comprehensively, learn information and knowledge, and adjust to the global society. The College of Engineering consists of three schools (e.g. School of Mechanical Design & Automation Engineering, etc.) and 14 departments including Department of Mechanical Engineering and one department on contract, together with the administration office and Innovative Engineering Education Center. It offers a variety of programs including six sponsored training courses, the UNN program (a joint-degree program offered in partnership with UK’s Northumbria University) and the Techno-preneurship Program for both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. The College of Engineering has 189 faculty members, a staff of 80, and about 8,950 students, and it is the center of engineering education. Some 40,000 engineers who graduated from SEOUL TECH are now playing a key role in the industrial and economic development of Korea as researchers and officers in major companies, research centers, and the government, and various government-affiliated institutions.

■ 교육목표 Educational Purposes
○ 창의적인 사고력과 문제해결 능력을 갖춘 공학도 양성
21C 과학기술시대에서 공학도에게 가장 중요한 것은 창의적인 사고력이며, 산업체에서 엔지니어에게 요구하는 중요한 능력은 자기에게 맡겨진 과제를 스스로 해결할 수 있는 문제해결 능력이다.
○ To cultivate engineers with creative minds and problem-solving capacities
A creative mind is one of the most important qualifications for engineers in the era of scientific technology in the 21st century. The ability to solve problems is one of the most important capacities required by the industries.
○ 전공지식 응용 능력을 갖춘 공학도 양성
산업체에서 엔지니어에게 요구하는 능력은 학교에서 또는 평소에 습득에서는 전공관련 이론 및 실무는 물론 이들의 현장 적용능력을 갖춘 공학도를 양성한다.
○ To foster engineers with an ability to apply their knowledge to the chosen fields
The College of Engineering is devoted to the cultivation of engineers with theoretical and practical knowledge related to their majors and an ability to utilize their knowledge in the field as required by the industries.
○ 실용적이고 종합적 설계능력을 갖춘 공학도 양성
산업현장에서는 산업에 직접 활용할 수 있는 실용적이고 기계요소, 공정 또는 공장의 설계를 이해하고 이를 활용할 수 있는 종합적인 설계 능력을 요구한다. 복합 학제적 팀의 구성원으로서의 실용적이고 종합적인 설계 능력을 갖춘 공학인을 양성한다.
○ To educate engineers with competence in practical and comprehensive design
An understanding of practical and mechanical aspects of the plant and an ability to produce comprehensive designs are some of the most important qualities engineers should possess. The College of Engineering aims to foster engineers with such qualities as members of an integrated interdisciplinary team.
○ 정보지식 습득 능력 및 국제화 사회에 대한 적응능력을 갖춘 공학도 양성
변화하는 정보화 사회에 적응하며 평생 학습능력을 갖추기 위해서는 정보지식 습득능력이 필요하며, 엔지니어로서 사회적 책임을 다하고 국제화 시대에 적응하기 위한 소양을 갖추어야 한다.
○ To Produce Engineers with an ability to acquire information and knowledge and adjust to the global society
Engineers are required to acquire an ability to adapt themselves to rapidly changing information-based society, acquire knowledge and information throughout their lives, and fulfill their responsibilities for the society in the global era.
