The East Coast Ogui-gut is classified into unit jangdan, contrastive jangdan and big paragraph-jangdan accroding to formal construction. Unit jangdan varies by speed, but it consists of kan (井). Kan constitutes unit jangdan. Several repetitions of unit jangdan form one chapter. According to circumstances, unit jangdan includes a repetition of 2 small jangdan. The followings fall into the category of unit jangdan: jangdan to eliminate misfortune (i.e. punuri and subuchae) and jangdan for hyey weon (i.e. zosigae and derunggangee). The construction of unit jangdan is remarkable at jangdan for bu jeong (不 淨 misfortune) and hyey weon (解 寃 solving grudges). Second, contrastive jangdan forms an antithesis of two unit jangdan the first unit jangdan shaman's song and the second unit jangdan baragi0, and it concludes jangdan for yeom bul (念 佛 chanting a Buddhist prayer) (i.e. ryukjasamjang, gosamyeombul and jasamyeombul) and jangdan for chook weon (祝 願 praying) (i.e. mujungjakgung, dongsalpuri, and dungdugungee). Contrastive jangdan mainly has a characteristic of rhyming couplet of shaman's song and baragi jangdan for yeom bul and chook weon. Finally, big paragraph-jangdan is a set of 2 or 4 unit jangdan and forms an antithesis of two parts of shaman's song and performance. Several big paragraph-jangdan constitutes one chapter and include jangdan for cheong shin (e.g. cheongbo, ocheongbo, jaemasu and samojang), cheon do (天 道) (e.g. dojang) and yeom bul (e.g. samgongjaebee and ryukzayeombul). Big paragraph-jangdan is a construction for an accompaniment of shaman's song. Big paragraph-jangdan such as cheongbo tends to close forming an antithesis of shaman's song and baragi in the second half of chapter. As shown above, the East Coast Ogui-gut has a mult-layer construction and it can be examined on the level small jangdan < unit jangdan < contrastive jangdan < small paragraph-jangdan < big paragraph-jangdan < jang (章 chapter).
