These viewpoints are as follows. First, the Chinese poem translation chil eon jeol gu (七 言 絶 句 a quatrain with seven Chinese characters in each line) of hyag ga "x (兜 率 歌)" expressed more deeply a poetic turn of mind which tried to eliminate an extraordinary disaster. Second, Haeng-Guy Choi, who wrote "Bo Hyeon Shi Weon Song (普 賢 十 願 頌)", had an obvious intention and purpose to introduce bo hyeon bo sal's (普 賢 菩 薩 Buddhist saint Bohyeon) profound meaning to Tang's people internationally and to hope that Korean people would not neglect the meaning domestically. Finally, King Yeyjong portrayed his feelings through the Chinese poem and then created "Do I Jang Ga (悼 二 將 歌)" to resolve his deep resentment that he did not fully express himself in the Chinese poem. In conclusion, this research criticized viewpoints from which translated poems are understood as an inevitable consequence and devalued because two languages were simply used. Further, this research attempted to make clear the importance of translated poems of the Shilla Dynasty to the Goryo Dynasty by discussing each of the translations from various angles (e.g. supplementation of genre, etc.). |
