“언젠가는 내가 당신이 그릴때 들었던 그 음악을 모든 사람이 들을 수 있게 sonify 해주겠노라고” [영어 번역문] When I set foot on New York soil first in ○○○○, I naturally turned on my heels to Guggenheim Museum, which held the special exhibition of Wassily Kandinsky. Kandinsky is a 19th century Russian painter who tried to express music in his paintings. I have longed for his musical paintings since a child. However, when I looked at them I could not listen to music portrayed in his paintings, contrary to my expectations. This raised me a question, “Can the person with an outstanding space sense only listen to it?” I was overwhelmed with unknown anxiety, and it was in my mind for a long time. After quite a while, my interactive music installation was put on Copenhagen Digital Art Festival May, ○○○○. My work is an audio visual installation where the user’s calligraphy work is changed to music in real time. I could not relieve my anxiety to some degree until I see the audience experience actively, and enjoy, the installation. And, I said to Kandinsky in my mind, “Someday I will sonify music you listened to when you painted a picture so that all people can listen to it.”
