영어 원문 To refuse to hear an opinion because they are sure that it is false is to assume that their certainty is the same thing as absolute certainty. All silencing of discussion is an assumption of infallibility. Unfortunately for the good sense of mankind, the fact of their fallibility is far from carrying weight in their practical judgment: for while everyone well knows himself to be fallible, few think it necessary to take any precautions against their own fallibility. 해석 To refuse to hear an opinion because they are sure that it is false is to assume that their certainty is the same thing as absolute certainty. 어떤 의견이 틀렸다고 확신하기 때문에 그 의견을 들어주기를 거부하는 것은 그들의 확실성이 절대적인 확실성과 같은 것이라고 가정하는 것이다.
