 영어 원문At the time of the writing of the Constitution, there were no political parties. However, it wasn't long before different ideas about how the United States government should be run caused people to take sides. Two opposing parties―the Federalists headed by Alexander Hamilton and the Anti-Federalists headed by Thomas Jefferson―soon formed. The Federalists wanted a stronger national government to make important decisions for the individual states and for the nation as a whole. The Anti-Federalists wanted the states to make their own decisions without the national government interesting. Even today, the Republican and Democratic parties argue whether the state or national government should have more control.
