마을회관은 이용대상이 폭넓고, 이용자 수의 변화가 매우심하다는 특징이있다. 때문에 공간의 가변성은 마을회관에서 풀어야할 가장 중요한 과제 중 하나였다. 이를 위해 우선 내부공간의 program은, 상대적으로 정적이고 private한 영역(할머니ㆍ 할아버지방)과 동적이고 public한 영역(회의실)으로 구분하고 이를 유기적으로 연결하는 매개공간(복도)을 구성하였다. 복도공간은 두 공간을 매개할 뿐 아니라 분리시키기도 한다. 복도의 창호는 전면개방이 가능하도록 하여 자연을 마을회관 안으로 끌어들이는 차경요소이기도 하다.
 
외부공간의 가변성 측면은, 외부의 넓은 deck를 design하여 내부의 부족한 공간(특히 service area)을 외부로 확장시키는 기능적 역할도 수행한다. 이는 한국전통건축이 지니는 가변성에서 유추한 것으로 대청마루와 마당공간이 지니는 공간적이고 상징적인 관계성에서 개념을 도출하였다.
 
이에 더하여 대청(deck)과 마당의 관계는 기능적으로 마당에서 더워진 공기가 대류를 일으켜 deck를 통해 건물내부의 자연환기를 유도하는 친환경 design요소이기도 하다. 건물의 구조와 재료(yellow cedar)는 모두 목조를 이용하였으며, 지붕의 형상은 주변 산세를 모티프로하여 디자인 하였다.

The village hall has two characters: the classes of its members are various and the number of people who use the facilities of the hall is extremely changeable. This leaves a spatial variability as one of the most important problems which confront people who design a village hall. In order to solve the problem, the inside space is divided into three parts. First, the relatively static and private part is assigned to rooms for old ladies and gentlemen. Second, the dynamic and public part is used for meeting rooms. Finally, a corridor serves a space which unites those two parts organically. Also, the corridor separates them. In particular, the windows and doors of the corridor play the role which matches the hall and its natural scenery due to the possible opening of the all walls.
 
The design of the wide outside deck plays a functional role from an aspect of variability of outer space; it enlarges the inside space (i.e. a service area) by using that outside space. This is derived from variability of Korean traditional architecture. That is to say, it is derived from the spatial and symbolic correlation between a deck and a garden.
 
In addition, the relation between a deck and a garden is a factor of pro-environmental design from a point of function. This design leads a natural ventilation of the hall; the heated air in the garden comes into the hall through the deck by convection current. The hall was built by using woods (i.e. yellow cedar) as materials, and its roof was designed by adopting geographical features of its neighboring mountains as a motif.
