Michael : How does the weather of Seoul compare with that of New York? ) I'm trying to decide what to take with me. )
Tom : I'd say New York's weather is more comparable to that of Inchon, so just pack accordingly. )
Michael : You mean more windy and cold in winter? ) You'd better be right after I pack this heavy stuff.
“A와 B를 비교하다”는 compare A with B가 옳으나 compare A to B라고도 쓴다.
e.g. Seoul is large, compared to Pusan. )
= Seoul is large, compared with Pusan.
e.g. There's no comparison between the two. )
e.g. No book can compare with the Bible. )
e.g. Life is compared to a voyage. )
* I'd say 아마, ~인 것 같다
I would say를 줄인 것. I should say that..
e.g. How much do you think he weighs? ) 90 kilos, I'd say. )
* comparable 비교가 되는 (that can be compared); 필적하는, 맞먹는 (worthy of comparison)
e.g. Our house is not comparable with yours. Ours is just a small hut while yours is a palace. )
* accordingly (그것에) 따라서, 어울리게 (in a way suitable to what has said or what has been happened)
e.g. You told me to lock the door and I acted accordingly. )
* You'd better be right.
* had better
e.g. I'd better leave now, or I'll be late.
= I must leave now, or I'll be late.
e.g. If you want to stay out of trouble, you'd better not make any mistakes.
= You must not make any mistakes.
* this heavy stuff 이 무거운 것
