영어 원문 When newborn children are under tension or stress, their bodily reactions may reflect their lack of physiological or psychological well-being. There are at least four physiological systems that may react to increases in tension: the gastrointestinal tract, the skin, the respiratory (breathing) apparatus, and the cardiovascular system (heart and blood vessels). Newborns differ in the way these systems respond to stress. That is, some infants show large increases in heart rate or large changes in skin temperature when under stress (e.g., when they are hungry), whereas others show less marked physiological changes in similar situations. Some babies expel food (vomit) when under tension; others break out with a rash on their skin; and still others show marked discoloration of the face or skin due to increase in blood pressure and dilation (expansion) of the small blood vessels near the skin. Difference among infants in activity, sensitivity to stimulation, and physiological reactions are already present during the first week of life. Until additional research has been done, it cannot be knwon whether the infant's characteristic bodily reactions will be stable over long periods of time. They may be only transient phenomena with little improtance for future development. However, if they prove to be constant over the first year, it seems likely that they will influence the child's subsequent development. For example, if early differences in heart rate, stomach activity, or skin sensitivity do, in fact, reflect stable constitutional tendencies, then the development of specific symptoms in later life (e.g., ulcers, asthma, allergies) may be, at least in part, related to the ways in which the infant reacts to stress. Whether these infant reaction patterns are hereditary or a result of the child's development before birth is still a mystery. 주제 신생아의 긴장에 대한 다양한 반응과 그의 지속기간 및 영향에 관한 기술. 해석 【Paragraph 1】 When newborn children are under tension or stress, their bodily reactions may reflect their lack of physiological or psychological well-being. 신생아가 긴장이나 스트레스를 받을 때, 그들의 신체적인 반응은 그들의 생리적인 혹은 심리적인 불안정을 반영할 수도 있다.
