향교...[안동시의 지역정체성변화에 관한 연구2<논문초록한영번역][증명서번역]
한국어 원문 조선시대 안동은 수많은 향교, 서원, 서당 등을 바탕으로 걸출한 유학자들과 수많은 인재들을 배출하여 조선 교육의 중심지이자 성리학의 본산으로서 자리매김하였다. 이는 영남사림이 등장할 수 있는 인적, 물적 배경이 되었으며, 안동지역의 사림세력은 붕당정치에 참여하여 야당인 남인세력을 형성하면서 전국에서도 으뜸가는 남인세력의 본거지로서 역할을 하였다. 그리고 조선시대 안동은 경주․상주․진주와 함께 경상도 내 4개 계수관의 하나로서 경상도 북부의 행정중심지이자, 경상도 북부의 군사방어거점 및 상업중심지로서의 기능도 수행하였다. 일제강점기 안동은 항일독립운동의 발상지로서의 역사성을 지닐 뿐만 아니라 독립운동의 본거지로서 항일투쟁의 핵심적인 역할을 수행하였다. 그리고 안동은 신교육의 중요성을 인식하여, 협동학교를 중심으로 많은 근대학교를 설립하여 경북 북부의 신교육운동 중심지로서 역할을 담당하였다. 또한, 안동은 경북 북부의 상업중심지로서의 기능을 수행하였다. 대한민국 시기에 안동은 지역기능 측면에서 한국정신문화의 수도, 한국의 대표적인 문화관광도시, 경북 북부의 교육중심도시, 사과와 산약의 전국적 명산지, 전국 최고의 삼베(안동포) 생산지로서 지역정체성을 형성하고 있고 볼 수 있다. 또한, 오늘날 안동의 이러한 지역정체성을 확인하기 위해 총 214명을 대상으로 주민 인식 설문조사를 실시하였다. 설문조사에서 1950년대 이후 안동의 지역정체성은 무엇이라고 생각하는가에 대한 질문에 ‘한국정신문화의 수도’와 ‘한국의 문화관광도시’이라고 응답한 비율이 38% 내외로 가장 높게 나타났다. 위와 같이 안동시의 지역정체성 변화는 역사적으로 정치․경제․사회적 여건 변화와 함께 나타났으며, 현재 지역정체성은 과거의 지역정체성을 바탕으로 오늘날의 지역환경 속에서 지역민이 형성한 것이다. 안동시는 오늘날 한국정신문화의 수도와 문화관광도시로서의 지역정체성을 기반으로 관련 지역개발정책을 적극 추진하고 있다. 그러나 미래에 안동시가 지향해야할 정체성으로서 오늘날 안동시의 지역정체성을 강화할 것인지 아니면 새로운 지역정체성의 형성을 통해 지역발전을 도모할 것인지는 안동지역주민들이 향후 해결해야할 과제이다. 이를 위해서 지역정체성에 관한 활발한 연구는 물론이고, 지역정체성에 기반한 지역개발전략에 관한 연구가 활성화되어야 할 것이다. 영어 번역문 Andong in the Joseon Dynasty cultivated a lot of talented people and outstanding Confucian scholars on the basis of many hyanggyo (the Confucian temple and school to teach local students), seowon, and seodang (a village school). This region became both the center of education and the headquarter of Neo-Confucianism. This provided Yeongnam Neo-Confucianism with human and material backgrounds. The school of Yeongnam Neo-Confucianism entered into politics and formed the Namin power. Andong played a part as a base of this school. Andong was a keysookwan with other 3 keysookwan (Kyeonjoo, Sangjoo and Jinjoo) and functioned as both the center of administration and business and the base of military defense in the northern part of Gyeongsang-do. Andong in the Japanese colonial period was a cradle of the anti-Japanese movement and played as a base of the independent movement a key role in anti-Japanese struggle. This district recognized the importance of new education and the cooperative school played a key role in establishing many modern schools. So, Andong became the center of the new education movement in the nothern part of Gyeongsang-do. Further, Andong also functioned as a center of business in the northern part of Gyeongsang-do. Andong in the period of the Republic of Korea is forming its regional identity as the capital of Korean moral culture, Korea's representative city of culture and tourism, the central city of education in the northern part of Gyeongsang-do, the famous area producing apples and Dioscorea japonica roots across the nation, the best producing area of hemp cloth (Andongpo). This research surveys of 214 people on recognition as a citizen to verify the above regional identity. In these surveys, the rate of the answers ("the capital of Korean moral culture" and "Korea's representative city of culture and tourism") to the survey question ("What is the regional identity in Andong after the 1950s?") is highest (approximately 38%). This research shows that historically, the process of regional identity has been done with the change of political, economical and social situations and that the present regional identity has been formed by local people in the present natural circumstance based on the past regional identity. Today, Andong is propelling the policy of the relevant region development, based on regional identity both as the capital of Korean moral culture and as Korea's representative city of culture and tourism. Here, as the future's desirable regional identity in Andong, whether the present Andong will strengthen its regional identity or will promote the region development through creating a new regional identity will be a future task. To do this, studies on regional identity and the policy of region development based on regional identity are required to actively conducted. |
